No Cute Stuff

Today's internet user needs to be really careful what they download off the internet. That screensaver that's really cute probably has some hidden program along with the free download.

Remember the old saying, "There's nothing free."? Well, it holds true in the internet world as well. Most everything that is free has a catch somewhere. It may be just advertisement of their full-blown version (such as SpySweeper below), and that's not a problem. But free downloads where there is no apparent reason for it to be free may just be installing spyware on your computer. Best advise: If you're not sure, stay away from it.

Some items that promise to help you surf the web better may also slow down your computer. Most of the browser tool-bars are such. We've actually seen computers come into our office that had so many add-on tool-bars, you could barely see the web pages.  Our advise is to omit them altogether as they really don't help at all.

Are you infected with Spyware?

Most likely, if you don't have anti-spyware software running on your computer, it has some form of spyware infection. Anti-Virus software is not enough anymore.

We've used SpyBot and AdAware with success, but the best product we've seen is SpySweeper by WebRoot. You can get a free trial copy or purchase the product with an annual subscription by clicking on the picture.
